VITA means Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. Each tax season, Community Action Agency connects about 80 volunteers with people in Montgomery County that need to file taxes. This is an IRS-certified program that improves financial capability of working people in Montgomery County.

There are many ways you can support the VITA Program! Learn how to enter tax forms using a computer system. Check taxpayer's identification and paperwork. Greet people as they arrive for appointments. Use existing tax knowledge to review tax returns before they're filed. Interpret for taxpayers in their first language. Answer phones in our office to schedule appointments. Or hang up flyers to advertise the free VITA services.

To become a volunteer for next tax season, you are welcome to attend Orientation and Training in Rockville during November and December 2018. Depending on what you want to do, some online certifications may be required. All training materials and resources are provided by IRS and CAA for free. Then we'll begin the tax return appointments across Montgomery County in January 2019.

If you complete a Prospective Volunteer Form now, then CAA will email you information about upcoming training opportunities.
