Mission Statement

The Paint the World Project is a Chicago based non-profit organization created to serve the youth of various communities through Performance Arts. Its primary mission is mentorship through creative counseling and expression. Its goal is to foster healthy and nurturing relationships with pre-teens and young adults in need of guidance and support. Using the arts, The Paint the World Project offers a safe space for the youth to use creative expression as a means of attaining a greater sense of identity and social awareness. Through the principles of unity and support, we inspire and foster relationships of honesty, humility, and respect, while providing practical resources to assist our youth in reaching their greater life potential. Unwaveringly, we stand firm and committed to our motto, "Be the change, make a difference. Make a change, be the difference".

Description

Painting a better world.

Through the Arts, the Paint the World Project is a vehicle to usher in a movement of community, brother and sisterhood, and self and global awareness. It is committed to actively fighting social injustices, while standing boldly in opposition to political and economical inequalities. By using film, photography, theater, dance, instrumentation, music production, vocal performance, creative writing, and many other forms of artistic expression, it provides a network of programs and workshops designed to facilitate and foster healthy responses to the social challenges many of our teens and young adults face daily. In addition, by partnering with local businesses, organizations, and health agencies, The Paint the World Project provides a means to a variety of other resources, including education, housing, employment, and health services.

How the project works?

Each program is designed to be approximately 7-10 weeks long and is comprised of a variety of hands on activities for using artistic outlets as tools to create a safe space for open discussions on the topics of the daily challenges of young-adulthood. Through these discussions, we explore constructive ways of overcoming these challenges using practical principles and techniques. At the end of each program there is a group project designed as an artistic demonstration of the principles learned within the completed program.
