Sweet Taste of Success 2018

JOB DESCRPTION FOR EVENT PLANNING COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS

Upwardly Global is hosting Sweet Taste of Success this fall in San Francisco, and we are looking for volunteers to help us make it a successful event!

Upwardly Global is the first and longest serving organization that focuses on helping foreign-trained immigrants and refugees integrate into the American workforce. We prepare immigrants and refugees for jobs that match their education and skills, and we provide employers with the know-how to create inclusive hiring practices so they can take advantage of this untapped and valuable potential. For more than 15 years, Upwardly Global has coached job seekers from more than 100 countries, helping thousands rebuild their careers and lives.

Sweet Taste of Success features signature dishes prepared by Bay Area chefs and the opportunity to mix and mingle with Upwardly Global supporters from corporate, nonprofit, and immigrant communities around the city-all while having fun for a good cause! As a volunteer on the event planning committee, you’ll help with the execution of the event-including securing chef participants and in-kind donations, marketing and PR support and fundraising to hit the event goal of $75,000.

Time Commitment: Must be able to commit 4-6 hours a month June-August 2018, plus a 6-hour commitment the week of the event in September.

To Sign-up to Volunteer or if you have questions, please contact Ana Leon aleon@upwardlyglobal.org or (415) 834-9901 x320.

Thank you for helping immigrant professionals to escape poverty and achieve economic security for their families!

Description

At Upwardly Global, we strive for more modern approaches to nonprofit work and to funding the work we do. Below is a list of our current opportunities:

1. Mock Interviews

A mock interview emulates and resembles a real interview that increases our candidates' confidence, skills and interview techniques. A brief training is provided covering interview structure and giving culturally competent feedback.

3. Conduct Informational Interviews

Host an Upwardly Global candidate for an Informational Interview, over the phone or in person, and help them understand the intricacies of pursuing a career within your industry or your company in the U.S. This allows for Upwardly Global candidates to practice and enhance their networking, builds confidence in creating a professional network and leverages your knowledge of your professional field.
