Thank you for your interest in volunteering for There With Care, a community-oriented and community-supported non-profit (501c3) organization.

Everyday caring, supportive, and thoughtful community members help provide a wide range of meaningful and fundamental services to children and families during the critical phase of a medical crisis. You’re invited to join the network of care that surrounds families with help when they need it most, so they can focus on what’s most important, their children.

Anyone can get involved. Participate as an individual or as a group, with your children, family members, friends, coworkers, students, and others! Children and youth must be accompanied by a parent/adult.

Participate when you can... on weekdays, in the evenings, or on weekends.

Choose a location that is convenient for you. Families may be in Palo Alto at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital or Ronald McDonald House; in San Francisco at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital or Family House; or in their own home. The office and warehouse are in Redwood City, and the Pantry is at Family House in Mission Bay, San Francisco. A group project can be hosted at a location of your choice.

Choose the experience(s) that works best with your personal interests and schedule:

  • Caring for families as a Family Support Volunteer - includes making deliveries of food and care packages. (Application, training, and background check required).
  • Assisting with warehouse organization.
  • Participating in community events.
  • Working on administrative tasks and special projects.
  • Creating Family Care Packages.
  • Hosting a Team Bake Chop session.
  • Shopping at the Food Bank.
  • Coordinating a drive for essential items.
  • Sharing a professional skill... graphic design, technology, photography.
  • Other ideas? Please let us know.

Mission Statement

The mission of There With Care is to provide a wide range of meaningful and fundamental services to families and children during the critical phase of a medical crisis. We serve families referred by medical agencies, by building a network of services and people who ease the burden of life's day-to-day obligations with compassion and care.

Description

The Bay Area Chapter was created in 2011, seven years after the founding chapter opened in Colorado. There With Care receives referrals from medical social workers at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Mission Bay, San Francisco. When a family receives a medical diagnosis of critical illness for their child, There With Care connects with the family and engages community members and organizations to volunteer to help ease the stress of their day-to-day life activities.

For information on the experiences of families and children facing critical illness; There With Care's programs and services, and ways to participate and support families, please visit our website: therewithcare.org (Select the "Bay Area" location.

We look forward to you joining the network of care and support that surrounds families. Thank you!
