Gates Volunteer At First Fridays

We thank you for your interest in volunteering with Oakland First Fridays! Please consider at least one of the following options:

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:

  1. Vendor Check-In: 2:30pm - 5:15pm. NEEDED.
    Volunteers will make sure the vendors are in their correct spaces and keep track of who has arrived. We're looking for someone friendly, outgoing, and cooperative!

  2. Gate Greeter: 4:30pm- 9:30pm. NEEDED.
    Volunteers will greet guests as they enter the festival and ask for donations. Looking for friendly, outgoing participants!
  3. Bar Support: 1pm-4pm AND/OR 8pm - 10:30pm. NEEDED *Must be at least 21 years old*
    Volunteers will assist the Sake Garden Lead with the inventory of the Sake Garden and managing the equipment. We're looking for someone friendly and cooperative!

  4. Photographer: 4:30pm - 9:30pm. NEEDED
    We're looking for someone with a great artistic eye! We will provide credit for the photographer wherever we place the images. Must have some photography experience! Must have some photography experience! Ability to photograph action, low lighting and outdoors. You'll need to provide your own equipment, edit and post final photos to our shared Google drive within 7 days after the event.

  5. Social Media Volunteer: 4:30pm - 9pm.
    Cover the first friday event on our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. You’ll use your personality and social media knowledge to speak to the audience while promoting the event. You’ll capture and promote the variety of performances happening on the different stages throughout the festival. You’ll also capture the diversity of people and engage attendees in the story you create online. You will work directly with the marketing director.
  6. Runner: 5pm - 9:30pm.
    Volunteers will provide support wherever needed during the festival. We're looking for somoene friendly, cooperative, and able to work in a team!
  7. Pre-Event Support: 11:30am - 2:30pm.
    We're looking someone friendly and cooperative to help with last minute volunteer and lead packets.

  8. Stage Hand: 3pm - 9pm.
    *Must be able to lift at least 20lbs* Volunteers will assist with the assembling, disassembling, and maintenance of stages during event performances. We're looking for someone strong, friendly, and able to work in a team!
  9. Performance Area Coordinator: 4:30pm - 9:30pm.
    Volunteers will manage performance line up & troubleshoot informal performances. We're looking for someone with great people skills!
  10. Booth Coordination: ~4pm - 8pm.
    Volunteers will work the Oakland First Fridays booth by setting up, answering questions, passing out flyers, processing payments.

Oakland First Fridays provides thousands of people from across the Bay Area and beyond with encounters and experiences with local art forms, inspiration, food, music, and the energy of the electric city of Oakland, California.

Oakland First Fridays volunteers will receive a free OFF T-Shirt after their first shift, free food whenever they volunteer, community hours, and resume building skills.

Oakland First Fridays is an organization dedicated to the grassroots deployment, coordination, maintenance, and sustainability of Oakland's monthly First Friday event. By facilitating a monthly event that is all inclusive, we exist to support local art, vendor, business, and social services organizations. Description

Oakland First Fridays is an immersive community and art experience, and the premier monthly arts event on the West Coast, located on Telegraph Avenue from West Grand to 27th street. First Fridays has helped to bring positive recognition to the City of Oakland, generating commerce and revenue that benefits the City. Oakland First Fridays has been featured in the New York Times, the Huffington Post, and other publications.

Every First Friday from 5 PM to 9 PM, Oakland's cultural art community springs to life with a variety of street vendors, including Street Artists, Culinary Artisans, Local Artisans, Poets, Galleries, Artists Collectives and Literary Events; performers such as Musicians, Dancers, Live Painters, Comedians, and DJ’s, etc; creating the opportunity for these amazing vendors to gain exposure and sell their work.

Every month up to 20,000 people come from all around the Bay Area and beyond to experience a variety of artistic expressions, be inspired, eat great food, enjoy live music, and stroll through the amazing, eclectic culture of Oakland First Friday and the city of Oakland.
