Host families for our 2018 Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Global One to One

World Learning, with partner Global One to One, is proud to administer the 2018 Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange program. Eleven English-speaking Iraqi youth (ages 15-18) and an adult mentor will be visiting Albuquerque July 11-25 to learn about peacebuilding and creating resilient communities. By living with local homestay host families, these young leaders will get to know daily life in the United States and build lasting friendships with Americans.

The goals of the program are to promote mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and Iraq; prepare youth leaders to become responsible citizens and contributing members of their communities; influence the attitudes of the leaders of a new generation; and foster relationships among youth from different ethnic, religious, and national groups and create networks of youth leaders, both within the participating countries and internationally. The visiting youth participants have selected based on academic achievement, and community service, and will create service project plans to be implemented in their home communities.

Host families provide housing, breakfasts, dinners, drop off at 8:00 am & pick up at 5:00pm each week day, and enjoy weekends with their visitor.
