Twin Cities World Refugee Day: Stage Manager

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: CAPI USA

What is World Refugee Day?

World Refugee Day is a family-oriented event celebrating the many thousands of refugees in Minnesota through song, dance, food, and storytelling. The purpose of the event is to provide a platform for refugee stories and artistic practices, to honor their lives, and to raise awareness for the millions of refugees in the world who have been forced to flee their homes. The event uses art as a way of creating connections between longtime Minnesota residents and our newest refugee populations. By putting art at the center of this event, we hope to build bridges across the current political and cultural divides to celebrate the resiliency of our vibrant community.

This event is also an opportunity to bring together community leaders to help plan the many activities for the day and help ensure we make this event accessible to all, and are representing our diverse refugee communities with voice and participation.
