Purpose/Objective: The Life Skills presenter will facilitate presentations to Hope Builders trainees focused on developing/enhancing participant’s social and emotional skills and other life skills related topics. The life skills presenter focuses on topics that are useful and relatable to Hope Builder’s trainees while placing on emphasis on workforce preparedness. The topics may include goal setting, time management, to financial aid.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate life skills workshops to Hope Builders trainees
• Provide interactive discussions to engage Hope Builders trainees
• Collaborate with staff to determine optimal topics for trainees
• Adheres to all policies and classroom procedures

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communication, or related (preferred)
• Experience in student services or administrating seminars (1 year+)
• Knowledgeable of leading educational seminars on the following:
• Time Management/Stress Management, College Goal Setting, Using your Resources, Yearnings/Life sentences, Disliked Parts/Acceptance, Diversity and Inclusion, Effective Communication/Conflict Resolution, Financial Aid
• Excellent oral communication skills
• Ability and willingness to establish and maintain a good relationship with young adults

Time Commitment:

• We ask for a commitment of 6 months (will be discussed once interest is expressed)
• Schedule will vary

Please be aware: Business hours are 8am-4:30pm, schedule will be based off these hours

Training and Support:

• Orientation to Hope Builders
• Introduction to cohorts
• Ongoing supervision from Volunteer Coordinator
• Additional help can be provided upon request
