Volunteering with ARTZ Philly's "ARTZ in the Making" program involves hands-on assistance with the delivery of multi-disciplinary and multi-sensory art-making programs to people living with dementia in the community and in care facilities.
This listing is for a recurring monthly program in Germantown/Mt. Airy: it will take place in the afternoon on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every other month. Please see ARTZ Philadelphia's other listings for other locations and times.
"ARTZ in the Making" programs are at their best when there's one-on-one support for the artists/residents who attend. Volunteers aim to maximize choice during these programs, to keep artwork authentic, and to facilitate joy and conversation.
ARTZ Philly's volunteer program requires volunteers to complete a two-part training with us, and includes a subsequent 6 month volunteering commitment (we ask that you attend at least one program/month).

Mission Statement
Our purpose is to provide opportunities for self-expression and for the rebuilding of self-esteem and dignity to people with memory loss and those who care for them. We achieve this mission through research-based programs that connect people living with dementia and their care partners with artists and cultural organizations in creative community.
Description
ARTZ Philadelphia was founded on the belief that people living with dementia should be accorded the benefits of well-being and quality of life that others enjoy. We provide cultural and creative opportunities that turn that belief into reality. We are committed to supporting and celebrating people with dementia and their care partners as valued members of our wider creative community.
