Mission Statement

Zoe's Story helps children battling Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO) and other rare diseases using the power of the pen. We host monthly journal writing and creative writing sessions virtually for our audience with a goal of empowering them to use writing as a tool to combat feelings associated with living with a rare disease.

Description

Almost two years ago, Zoe was diagnosed with Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO), a rare, incurable disease that strikes 1 in 1 million children. CRMO (also called CNO) is a disease in which the body considers its own bones the "enemy" and attacks them. These attacks cause painful bone lesions (holes in the bones) which weakens the bones, makes them highly susceptible to breaks, and impacts the overall quality of life.

Zoe's Story helps children battling CRMO through therapeutic writing sessions. We provide each child who contacts us with a journaling kit. We also offer a secure member directory to help connect families and children with this disease because its rarity means that it is difficult to connect locally. Finally, we help raise awareness and donate funding towards research dedicated to finding a cure for CRMO.
