Can you spare a few hours a month to help save a life? Lack of transportation has become a major problem for thousands of cancer patients. Many patients need daily or weekly treatments, often over a period of months, and they simply have no transportation or are too ill to drive. Family and friends may help, but sometimes it's just not enough. Road to Recovery is an American Cancer Society service program that provides cancer patients with transportation to and from scheduled treatment appointments. Volunteer drivers donate their time to take patients to treatments and return them to their homes. Very flexible drive once a week or once a month. This is to medical appointments so you must be available during business hours for those kind of appointments.

Perfect for retired folks that still want to do other things. If you work rotation shifts and have a day off during the week and want to do a 30 min radiation appointment ride you can. Or if it is for Chemotherapy the ride may be for 4-5 hours but, you could be just the drop off or pick up person or come back when the patient is done. We have snowbirds that do this and if you have visitors coming just put in that you are not available for that week! You are always in control of when and how far you drive. This is one volunteer spot where you don't have to commit to a certain shift or amount of time to give each week, it can vary depending on how busy you are.......
