ORGANIZATION: Rainbow Community Center of Contra Costa

As apart of the Kind Hearts Food Pantry here at the Rainbow Community Center, we have a separate program (that we provide as a sole volunteer effort) for clients who are in need of home delivery food from the pantry. Due to the nature of this volunteer opportunity, we ask for dedicated volunteers who are willing to travel to deliver food for our clients in need. We do these deliveries only twice a month on Thursdays (or can be scheduled for friday with permission from Food Pantry Manager)

We are in need of anyone who can help!

Locations may include: Martinez, Baypoint/Pittsburg, Concord, Walnut Creek, & Pleasant Hill

Mission Statement

The Rainbow Community Center of Contra Costa County builds community and promotes well-being among Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) people and our allies.

Description

The Rainbow Community Center is the only organization in Contra Costa County that is solely focused on serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) community; our current priorities are to build services for LGBT youth, seniors, people living with HIV/AIDS and to develop community building efforts that will diminish the sense of isolation and promote greater acceptance of all LGBTQ people.

Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive and respectful environment for LGBTQ people of all ages, socio-economic status, races, cultures and religions. We strive to create services and activities that will promote the mental, physical and spiritual well-being of our community by providing professional services, peer support, referral services, social opportunities and educational programs of interest to our community as well as to the community at large.
