Join us in transforming Compton! Over 1,500 volunteers come together in Compton, Ca to paint homes, schools, churches, murals, block-clean ups and similar beautification activities.
The Compton Initiative is a non profit charitable group that organizes over 1,500 volunteers to do quarterly service projects within Compton in efforts to bring hope and restoration to the city. Volunteers arrive into Compton from all over Southern California including colleges, churches and other service groups to work side byside with Compton residents and neighbors. In one day, over 1,500 volunteers are sent to 30 different worksites. The worksites include painting: an elementary school, murlas, nearby homes, block-clean ups, planting community gardens and other similar community beautification efforts.
Volunteers show up to the rally at 7:00a.m. where they can enjoy a light breakfast, and hear local Compton leaders at the rally. By 7:45a.m., all 2,000 volunteers are sent out to their differet worksites. Volunteers arrive at their assigned worksite by 8:00a.m. Volunteers work at their worksite until around noon. Then pizzas for lunch will be delivered. All supplies will be provided for the task on the worksites. Breakfast, lunch, and the supplies will be provided for free. We ask that volunteers consider to make a donation to help support future Compton workdays.

Mission Statement
The Compton Initiative exists to partner with other entities (organizations, clubs, schools, business, community residents) to bring restoration and hope to the community of Compton. The Compton Initiative is a 40 year commitment that includes a thousand acts of service (one day at a time), that will assist in the transformation of the community of Compton.
Description
Our primary work consists of painting the exterior of homes, schools, and other buildings in the city of Compton. We also do minor construction i.e. replacing rotting wood, doors and windows, as well as yard work and tree trimming. Our volunteers do not need to have any prior experience in any of this work, but just need to come with an open heart and the willingness to serve the community. We supply all the volunteers with the materials and equipment needed and have directors and leaders overseeing each project. Our workdays are on Saturdays and last from 7am til noon. We provide breakfast and lunch for all the volunteers.
