We are currently seeking volunteers to facilitate our Job Readiness Training sessions for CCA clients. This is an opportunity for those whom would like to learn and develop skills for helping people obtain employment. We have a prepared curriculum which will be taught to volunteers by the program's developer. Once a volunteer has completed training, she/he will be assigned a schedule for teaching CCA clients using the curriculum-based lessons and materials. Class sessions generally range between one to two hours, depending upon the lessons taught, and both morning and afternoon classes can and shall be scheduled to accommodate a volunteer trainer's availability. This is a new program, and all volunteers whom participate will be acknowledged for their effort and commitment towards changing the lives of CCA's Angels. All candidates must first be cleared for service through CCA’s volunteer screening procedures. Afterwards, candidates will be screened according to the following criteria:

High school graduates with strong interests (and mild to moderate experience) in training/assisting others shall be considered; college students seeking careers in education, human resources, and social services are strongly encouraged to apply; professionals in education, human resources, and social services are highly preferred.

Duties include:

  • Attend scheduled volunteer training and regular meetings
  • Devise personalized teaching style and client engagement techniques
  • Facilitate client training with curriculum and equipment provided
  • Assist clients with training session needs
  • Distribute/collect surveys and questionnaires during training sessions
  • Return training surveys and questionnaires to CCA Life Skills Department
  • Document client attendance at training sessions
  • Refer clients to CCA Life Skills Department
  • Maintain a personal log of training facilitation, clients assisted, and client-referrals
  • Maintain neatness of training area(s); report cleaning needs of training areas to appropriate CCA staff
  • Report to Job Readiness VISTA and Life Skills Coordinator as required
  • Other duties, as assigned

CCA was started in 1973 by seven young adults in a Bible study group committed to volunteer efforts in order to create a stronger community. Today, we continue to rely on volunteers to help us do our daily work and are blessed by the generosity of all of our many volunteers. From answering phones and assisting with mailings, to working the checkout in CCA's Food Pantry, to serving as a doctor or nurse in our health center, CCA is a wonderful place for individuals, businesses and organizations to give generously of their time, talents and compassion.
