Public Counsel’s Women and Girls Rights Project has joined with other girl-serving organizations and advocates in Los Angeles County to form a local chapter of "Alliance for Girls." The purpose of the Alliance is to advance equality and opportunity for girls in K-12 -- especially girls of color, through collaboration, professional development and advocacy. For background on AFG Bay Area, go to www.alliance4girls.org.

The LA Chapter needs help planning and implementing its LAUNCH this summer (Date TBD). The Launch is aimed at girls of color and the organizations that serve them, but must be exciting enough to generate media attention and publicity. A press conference/press release will be attached to the event. Volunteer is needed to help plan and coordinate the launch event and to generate publicity for the AFG. The volunteer will also work with our Development team to identify and reach out to potential sponsors to help cover the costs of the event. Sponsors should be progressive and "girl-friendly" (i.e. Dove, Title Nine, etc.)

Minimum qualifications: Creative and enthusiastic. Experience in Communications/Public Relations. Excellent communications and people skills. Fluent in use of social media. Press contacts or development experience (finding private sector sponsors) a plus.

Expected Time Commitment: Part Time/Flexible

Date Needed: ASAP

Location: Telecommute/ Work from Home, with occasional meetings at Public Counsel office (in Koreatown) or with partner organizations around Los Angeles involved in the event.
