The Outreach Coordinator will deepen our relationships and cultivate new partnerships among community members, thought leaders in Metro Detroit area, and fundraise for our groups and campaigns. The Outreach Coordinator will also run the events programming and community-inspired events on a regular basis. Experience in community relations, event planning, and fundraising preferred.

Mission Statement
Brown Girls Read is and book club/mentoring program aim to increase adolescent literacy and empower our youth in the community. Our program strives to provide workshops that are both fun and educational where members learn essay writing, tips for applying to college, best practices for obtaining financial aid, money management and more. To keep the seminars interesting and relevant. The ability to read, write and communicate connects people and empowers them to achieve to the highest level possible. Members are divided into groups base on age and grade level. Group Yellow- ages 7-9 Group Orange- ages 10-12 Group Green- ages 13-15
Description
Our goals are to establish an effective learning program for our members that will increase their ability to be successful communicators. We believe that books and social skills have the incredible ability to teach, build communities, inspire individuals and change lives. Once youth have experience a true connection with a book that resonated with their own lives they are primed to become life-long readers.
