Project Concern, the Food Pantry and Resource Center serving Cudahy and Saint Francis, is looking for one or two volunteers to pick up food at Feeding America (17th & Fond du lac) up to three days a week, in the morning, and then bring the food to our pantry before we open at 9am.
This critical volunteer position allows us to provide our patrons with fresh fruit and vegetables on a regular basis, thanks to the generosity of our friends at Feeding America.
Our pantry opens at 9am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday every week, and on those days we need 1-2 volunteers to get to Feeding America between 8-8:30am, "shop" for our produce and vegetables (we handle all payments) and then bring it our pantry in Cudahy. Lifting is required and the volunteer would need to have a mini-van, truck or SUV in order to have room for the food.

Mission Statement
Serve low-income individuals and families by feeding the needy, meeting emergency basic needs and providing a bridge/safety net to help them become self-sufficient.
Description
Project Concern of Cudahy - St. Francis is a food pantry that provides emergency food and personal care items for households whose income is 185% of the poverty line, this is a guideline set down by the federal government. The goal of the pantry is to help alleviate hunger, demonstrate community compassion and provide patrons with referrals to other community resources and to address the underlying causes of poverty through advocacy and empowerment.
The pantry has 2 part-time employees. Additionally over 70 regular volunteers do a variety of invaluable tasks that keep the pantry humming.
Hunger Task Force provides much of the food that the pantry distributes. However, the pantry still needs additional help to respond to the immediate nutritional needs of low-income people living in the cities of Cudahy and St. Francis. Project Concern works with local congregations, businesses and the community at large to meet those needs.
