Foster care is a rewarding experience... to see a West Highland Whiter Terrier ("Westie") blossom and thrive under your care is probably one of the most heartwarming gratifying experiences you will ever encounter.
Foster care is short-term temporary care in your home. While in your care, your foster Westie may need to be taught what a crate is, what a leash is, what "house manners" are, etc. Your foster Westie will need exercise and will need to socialize with other dogs to assist with continuous training and well being. You may need to provide treatments (e.g., dietary, baths, medication) for pre-existing conditions (e.g., skin/coat problem).
If you accept to foster a Westie from the WRAP foster care program, then the expenses related to the Westie's care will be paid out of our WRAP rescue fund. The typical expenses include veterinarian visits, labs, treatments/procedures, prescriptions, medications, dog food, and pet supplies.
We understand that some foster caretakers will actually find themselves bonding with the Westie in their care and may have a hard time when the adoption process is completed. Please remember that your primary goal is to rehabilitate this Westie for a successful adoption.
All we ask from you is your time, energy and a safe, stable, secure environment that will nurture this Westie.

Mission Statement
Forever Homes for All Westies
Description
We are a non-profit, all volunteer organization which was formed to rescue West Highland White Terriers ("Westies") and find them safe, loving and permanent homes. We serve the Westie rescue needs of Northern California from the Central Valley to the Oregon border. We are not a shelter and have no facility. The Westies that are rescued by our program are placed directly into their new permanent home or into a private foster home while completing the adoption process. Before placement, our rescued Westies receive a complete checkup from a licensed veterinarian and receive necessary vaccinations/treatments (including spaying and neutering) prior to being placed in an adoptive home.
