Volunteer with the YMCA

Goal of Role
Assist staff in enriching the lives of children through day camp programming.

Tasks and Activities

  • Assist counselors by monitoring, assisting and guiding children through projects and activities
  • Support and encourage children to participate in activities
  • Role model the Y values of caring, honestly, respect and responsibility
  • Specific duties may vary depending on the camp curriculum

Qualifications and Desired Skills

  • Welcoming, energetic and caring
  • Loves children and has a desire to see them develop their potential
  • Experience working with children is ideal
  • Familiarity with Y Values and be able to communicate those to children
  • Able to run, walk, sit, stand, bend, and reach for extended periods of time

Age Requirement
14 or older

Length of Commitment
Full week during chosen camp is ideal, but will work with volunteer availability.

Estimated hours/week or month
4-20/week

Scheduling
At specific times: M-F, 9am -1pm or 1-5pm

Location
Downtown Family YMCA

Dress Code
Y Appropriate

Training and other requirements
Must pass background and reference checks and attend volunteer orientation prior to start date. Date and Time TBD
