Junior Achievement of Chicago is reaching out to you on behalf of Chicago Tech Academy to formally invite you as a volunteer to their "Career/Trade Fair."

Students will have the opportunity to network with professionals in a Speed Networking Workshop, Learn about their "Personal Brand, and receive some inspirational words of wisdom from our closing speaker Prof. Benny Lee.

As we all know, post-secondary planning during high school can be a little intimidating. Our mission on this day is to guide these young minds with some sense of direction towards what is to come in the very near future. With your help, we hope that we are able to change many paths.

Please join us on June 7 th at Chicago Tech Academy from 9 am - 1:30 pm! If you are able to volunteer on this day and time, please email Giovanni Baez.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

JA Workshop: Know Your Personal Brand : Volunteers will be conducting a workshop that talks about "Personal Brand." Volunteers will be provided with training materials along with a 10-15 min conference call for a walk through of the workshop.

Speed Networking: All volunteers will be in the gym to participate in our Speed networking. Students will be randomly choosing volunteers to talk to in order to complete a bingo sheet. Volunteers will simply be asked to talk with the students and help them with their communication skills.

Job Fair: We invite all entrepreneurs and companies to take part in this fair. Volunteers will have the opportunity to set up a table with their business info. Here students will have the opportunity to ask questions and familiarize themselves with the different industries and trades. *You may bring company giveaways. If you are bringing treats/candy, please make sure that they abide by all allergic and any diet restrictions. Hard candy and Chocolates will do fine, stay away from anything with peanuts.*

Mission Statement

To inspire and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy.

Description

Junior Achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. In partnership with businesses and educators, JA brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential.

Our corporate and community volunteers deliver relevant, hands-on experiences that give students from kindergarten through high school knowledge and skills in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship. JA programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and how it can be applied in the real world - enhancing the relevance of their classroom learning and increasing their understanding of the value of staying in school.

Throughout JA's sequential and integrated kindergarten through high school programs, students think critically and solve complex problems. Through our business, financial, and entrepreneurial educational programs, we prepare students to:

  • Proactively manage their finances;
  • Become entrepreneurs; and
  • Develop skills that will be recognized and valued in a global workforce.

During the 2017-2018 school year, JA of Chicago successfully reached 600,222 students of all ages, races, ethnic backgrounds and physical capabilities, including at-risk youth in twelve Chicago-area and northwestern Indiana counties.
