Through a past collaboration with Montague Catholic Social Services, Greenfield Community College, and the Western Mass Women's Fund, NELCWIT was able to offer the G.A.R.D.E.N. project, a skillsharing program about sustainable gardening. The conclusion of the project involved installing raised beds in front of NELCWIT's Greenfield office, and now that summer is here, we need some help maintaining them!

This volunteer opportunity would occur on the weekends, and involve weeding, watering and otherwise maintaining our beds of herbs, tomatoes, lettuce and sunflowers. We would ask a volunteer to commit to do this once a week for at least 3 months, either on Sunday or Saturday. It would be amazing if we could have someone willing to do both days, or a volunteer for each day! We also have space for more beds, and some other garden spaces around the building that we would love to add color to, if a volunteer wanted to take more initiative.

NELCWIT asks all of our volunteers to sign our confidentiality form, although it is not expected garden volunteers will have contact with clients. We also run a CORI background check, which typically takes a few days to process.

If you're interested in being our Summer Garden Volunteer, email sarah@nelcwit.org for more information and an application.
