A bereavement volunteer helps with various aspects of the bereavement program; such as, mailing of bereavement letters and information, making phone calls for events, visiting and providing companionship for the bereaved, bereavement group meetings, or help with bereavement groups or events. If you would like to make a difference in someone's life, hospice volunteering might be for you! No medical skills or experience are required; our expert clinicians provide all medical care. Orientation to hospice, family dynamics, and grief education is provided before volunteers begin visiting patients.

About Encompass Health - Hospice

Location:

Mission Statement

At Encompass Health, we believe hospice is not a place, but rather a philosophy of care. Our goal is to bring dignity and comfort home by offering compassionate care to patients and their families during the final stages of life.

Description

Encompass Health is looking for a office and patient volunteers to provide support to patients during their final months and weeks of life. Volunteers provide non-medical services and respite time for caregivers and family members. As a hospice volunteer, you will be given choices as to how much and what types of things you want to do.

A few ways you can help as a hospice volunteer is by running errands for patients and families, playing games or reading with patients, walking and caring for family pets, or even creating a photo album of the patient and their family.
