Four Mile Historic Park is looking for energetic, reliable, and dedicated students to participate in our Summer Camp Junior Leadership Program.
Home to Denver's oldest standing house (the Four Mile House, built in 1859), the Park offers week-long summer day camps that combine history-centered activities with outdoor nature exploration. Campers spend their days cooking over an open fire, learning in a one-room school house, taking listening walks through nature, and more.
The education department is offering a unique volunteer opportunity to area high school students, ages 16-18. Volunteers will assist Four Mile staff in implementing all camp activities, supervising camp participants, and setting up/cleaning up.
Two camp sessions will be held: Monday-Friday, June 18-22 and July 16-20. You can help us out for one week or both! Candidates should be able to work every day of each camp for which they are signed up. Volunteer hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-3:30 pm.
If you are looking for a fun and exciting way to serve the community and gain valuable experience, then the Summer Camp Junior Leader role at Four Mile Historic Park might be right for you. All interested parties must complete and return a Junior Leader Volunteer Application (email us for a copy).

Mission Statement
The mission of the Four Mile Historic Park is to educate a diverse community through experiences which promote preservation, interpretation and enjoyment of Denver’s western heritage.
Description
Built in 1859, Four Mile House is Denver's oldest standing structure and the centerpiece of a 12-acre park. Built as a wagon stop and wayside Inn along the Cherokee Trail, it was the last stop en route to Denver and the first leaving town. After the railroad arrived in 1870, the Booth family transformed the site into a prosperous 600 acre ranch/farm. Today, this National Register Historic House museum and living history farm offers programs and heritage events that transport visitors to the early days of western migration and settlement. We focus on the history of the site and give participants hand-ons opportunities to learn about life in the Denver region during the late 19th-century.
