ORGANIZATION: Dayton Metro Library

  • 1 person is interested

Dayton Metro Library is accepting applications through April 21, 2023 for volunteer docent tour guides for the Americans and the Holocaust traveling exhibition. The library will host the exhibit from May 17 to June 21, 2023. Docents will play a vital role in the exhibit by providing tours that encourage a meaningful experience for groups of all ages.

Volunteer docents lead 20- to 25-minute tours of the Americans and the Holocaust traveling exhibition to visitors at Dayton Metro Library. Using the exhibition content and a guided script, docents help visitors understand the two fundamental questions posed by the exhibition: "What did Americans know?" and "What more could have been done?"

Scheduled tours will ideally be groups of 10 to 12, although docents must be able to adapt their tour for larger and smaller groups and for visitors of different ages.

Position Commitments:

  • Attend one 90 minute training on either May 15 or 16--including practice role play prior to your first volunteer shift.
  • Commit to at least one two-hour shift over the five-week period.
  • Consent to a criminal background check (required of all Library volunteers).
