Seeking those who are interested in becoming a Certified Arbitrator. This is a volunteer position with training, very flexible and able to serve at least one hour per month. An Arbitrator would meet with juveniles and families to establish a plan to divert the juveniles actions towards restorative justice.

Juvenile Arbitration is a community based youth crime intervention program
Description
Arbitration is a community based program that provides fast track accountability for first time youthful offenders. Three goals of Juvenile Arbitration are * to hold offenders accountable * increase the competency and learning of youthful offenders so they can become productive law abiding citizens * the ensure public safety by strengthening a community capacity to prevent and control crime
Trained VOLUNTEER ARBITRATORS roles: must be 21 years of age, screened by SC Sled, Arbitrators work with participants to establish appropriate sanctions for the youth to complete. The hearings last 45min -1 hour per juvenile. This is a very flexible volunteer opportunity that brings much reward by the amount of success seen with youthful offenders.
Successful completion of the Arbitration Program enables the youth to make amends for his or her actions and avoid formal prosecution in court.
