If you are someone who loves hanging out and playing with children, this is a fantastic opportunity!
To improve our clients' ability to receive counseling services at HAVEN, we offer child care for them during their individual and/or group sessions. A typical child watch volunteer would spend an hour and a half with the children of survivors during the time of group sessions, and one hour to an hour and a half during the time of individual sessions. This is a special time to provide a positive interaction with the children of survivors, and give them a time to play and just be kids!
Currently, group sessions occur on Tuesday nights from 6:00 - 7:30 PM.
As for availability during individual sessions, we would consult with you individually as to whether you have the availability on an as-needed basis.
NOTE: All direct-service volunteers are required to complete a mandatory 3-day training with us prior to starting their volunteer work. Our next training takes place on August 9-11 from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. I can provide other dates as well if the August dates do not work for you.
