We are looking for volunteers to staff our History Center & Museum. IWe have an extensive volunteer handbook and, although some knowledge of Lake Oswego's history would be desirable, it is not required.
The museum is housed in the last remaining Iron Company Worker's Cottage; it dates from the 1880s. It's Lake Oswego’s oldest house that is open to the public and is located at 40 Wilbur Street, Lake Oswego, OR 97034 in the Old Town Neighborhood. Museum hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays and the first Saturday of every month from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, unless one of these regularly scheduled days falls on a holiday.
The museum is ADA accessible. Three parking places, including one ADA space, along with bicycle parking, are accessible from the alley behind (south) of the museum. The nearest TriMet bus stops are South State and Wilbur Streets (northbound) and South State Street and Middlecrest Road (southbound).

Mission Statement
The Lake Oswego Preservation Society’s mission is: To support Lake Oswego’s historic fabric through advocacy and education. We are a small organization, with a big vision.
Description
A message from our founder, Marylou Colver: "My vision was to create an organization to advocate for the triple bottom line benefits-social, economic, and environmental-of preserving our unique built heritage as well as having a strong, researched-based focus on education. In the relatively brief time since founding the non-profit Lake Oswego Preservation Society in 2011, hard work, meticulous research, creative thinking, vision, and land use advocacy along with dedicated volunteers, generous members, granting organizations, and other supporters and friends have contributed to realizing this goal. May our current community, and future Lake Oswego citizens, enjoy the fruits of all of our labors on behalf of the place that we love."
The Society has received recognition, both locally and statewide, for our historic preservation advocacy on behalf of Lake Oswego landmarks. In word, and deed, we honor our motto: "Advocate. Educate. Celebrate!"
