As a local unit of the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force, with a Cadet Program for youth between 12 - 20 years old, we are much like a combination of the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Air Force Junior ROTC. During our year-round weekly meetings, we offer leadership and character development, while introducing our cadets to fun and exciting activities in the other two CAP missions or main areas of emphasis: Aerospace Education (AE) and Emergency Services (ES). AE activities include learning about airplanes and rockets with CAP's own curriculum materials, learning aircraft handling and instrumentation using flight simulators, taking the controls during actual orientation flights in CAP owned aircraft (Cessna 172s and 182s,) building and launching model rockets. and flying quadcopters (a.k.a. "Drones".) ES activities include learning search and rescue skills such as map and compass/orienteering skills, first aid, CPR and electronic direction finding techniques to find missing/crashed small aircraft.

Mission Statement
To become the highest example of integrity, excellence, and volunteer service as we carry out our missions of aerospace education, emergency services, and cadet programs.
Description
Boston Cadet Squadron, Civil Air Patrol is a year-round STEM-focused activity where teenaged cadets get to actually fly small airplanes, launch model rockets and fly quadcopters (aka "drones") while also learning to lead, hike, camp, get in shape and push themselves physically and academically to higher limits! If you or your teenage children are college-bound and are dreaming about a career in aviation (on Earth on in Space), a career in the military, a civilian STEM career -- or you want to mentor teens who do -- then the Civil Air Patrol is for you!
