ORGANIZATION: Volunteer Action for Aging

Make a commitment to seniors who would enjoy visiting with you. Often our mono-lingual seniors wait for many months to connect with a volunteer that speaks Spanish. Step up to meet an interesting senior with wonderful stories to tell and a desire to get to know you. We have two Spanish speaking seniors who lives in the South Bay. Each have been waiting for many months to meet a volunteer who offers a 1 hour visit per week. Each would enjoy conversation, story telling and learning about you in their own language!

Our agency is Volunteer Action for Aging, a Community Service division of SCAN Health Plan. We coordinate a Friendly Visitor program. Our mission is to match caring volunteers with seniors who may need some company. This opportunity involves no personal or home care, just an hour per week of getting to know someone new! Our Friendly Visitor program is free of charge.

This opportunity is a small commitment for a large reward! Just 1 hour per week to play cards, chat, take a walk, talk about the past, present and future with a senior who has wisdom, humor, and is appreciative of your time and your ability to listen and speak in your common language!
