Table to Table is in need of volunteers to help with maintaining our mission of connecting abundance with need in Johnson County. We are incredibly flexible: whatever your schedule is, we can probably work with it! If you’re into our mission, we most likely have a great fit for you. We have volunteers that come in twice a week and volunteers that come in twice a month and both are valuable to our organization.
Duties can include: harvesting produce at farms and orchards, driving or riding in T2T vans on routes to pick up and deliver food, helping prep vans for their routes in our shop (move empty boxes around while listening to some tunes!), offering free fresh produce in at-need neighborhoods, and more. Table to Table bridges the gap between abundance and hunger. Our mission is to increase food equity and reduce environmental harm by collecting and redistributing surplus food through partners to people who can use it.

Table to Table is a United Way agency of Johnson County.
Volunteers are an essential element of our organization and provide the means for us to pursue our mission. By keeping food from going to waste, we help these agencies in their efforts to help those in need. Whether the agency we deliver to prepares a meal or distributes groceries, this rescued food is making a positive impact on the lives of others.
Since 1996, Table to Table has rescued over 20 million pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste. This year alone, the volunteers have rescued 2.5 million pounds of food. Donations are collected from 80 local grocery stores, bakeries, dairies, restaurants, schools and businesses. 50 local social service agencies receive donated food distributed through Table to Table. Each 1.5 pounds of donated food provides an equivalent meal to someone in need. This year, Table to Table saved social service agencies over $6 million in Johnson County.
Table to Table is Iowa's original food rescue organization. We specialize in "rapid response" retrieval of fresh and perishable foods; we pick up and deliver the donated food items to recipient agencies in the same day.
