Reports to: This position reports to the Accounting Lead and the Executive Director.
Works with: This volunteer will correspondence with Dallas Pets Alive! volunteers and leadership team on a regular basis.
Description of Role: This role will support the Finance function of Dallas Pets Alive! by ensuring vendors are paid timely and approval procedures are followed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Processing payments to vendors upon approval from designated executive team member using Paypal, e-check, or physical mailed checks as required.
- Maintaining security of checkbook, debit card, and financial account details.
- Ensuring accounting team is provided with necessary details of payments made for recordkeeping purposes.
- Maintaining reconciliations of payments made and provide to executive or accounting team members upon request.
- Ensuring documentation of payments made is kept in team data storage drives.
Skills/Qualifications Needed:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and maintain professional level correspondence at all times.
- Flexibility of schedule to ensure payments are made on a timely basis.
- Ability to recognize the importance of confidentiality in regard to financial data, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Positive attitude at all times and ability to present DPA in a positive manner to the public.
- Excellent problem solving ability, and ability to work within deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- HS diploma/equivalent or higher degree of education.
Desired Experience:
- Past experience in accounts payable or finance is helpful but not required.

OUR APPROACH
Our organization is run mostly by volunteers, and all of our pets are housed by dedicated foster families throughout North Texas.
We rescue and help the healthy and treatable pets at greatest risk for euthanasia at our partner shelters. We also provide assistance and resources to pet owners having problems so significant that they need to surrender their pets to a shelter.
In our rescue program, we focus on:
- Rescuing healthy and treatable pets at North Texas shelters at the greatest risk of being euthanized
- Reducing owner surrender through our Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) program
- Opening kennel space by transporting pets to partners in the U.S. and Canada in need of adoptable animals
- Challenging the way our community views rescue animals. We believe that adoption is not only right thing to do but THE thing to do!

*At this time, we do not accept court-ordered service hours nor track community service hours.
*Our organization does not currently have an established office location, however in March 2023 DPA opened up an Adoption Container.
