Community Service of Newburyport, one of the area's oldest social service agencies is moving from Green Street to Spring Street -- into new space where they can serve more clients more effectively. They have already moved a lot of boxes, furniture, etc. They need help to move the last boxes (of food, clothing, administrative files, computers) and two heavier pieces (a steel file cabinet and an air conditioner) on Thursday, May 31. We need one person with a van or truck for the heavy pieces and several people to carry boxes (from second to first floor at the old facility and down a short ramp at the new facility), load their cars and drive a few blocks before unloading in the new space. Many hands make light work. Join the crew to their move into new space quick and fun.

Pennies for Poverty is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization whose mission is to ease the impact of poverty on the people of Greater Newburyport by endorsing models of assistance that promote dignity, supporting allied organizations both financially and collaboratively, increasing community awareness of poverty through citizen education, and inspiring and encouraging volunteerism.
Description
Pennies for Poverty, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was founded in 2008 with the belief that if everyone in the community does a little to help those in need, we can substantially reduce poverty and improve the well being of all members of the community. The original mantra for the organization was "2 Cents, 2 Cans, 2 Hours, Together." That is, everyone should put aside 2 cents a day and 2 cans a week and volunteer 2 hours a month so that together we reduce poverty.
