Help keep our trails well cared for by volunteering!
Join visitors and community members as we remove downed limbs, cut back brush, and have fun in the great outdoors. Over a million visitors a year use our trail system. In addition to the park's excellent maintenance staff, it is the generous effort of volunteers that keeps the trails in working order. This is a great opportunity for the families, recreationalists, and community members who use the trails in the park to give back.
We will be working on is the Battle Road Trail, the Vernal Pool Trail, and the Hartwell-Smith Trail. Not only is the Battle Road Trail a great place to hike, walk, and bike, but it is also an integral part of the history of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Our trails are both naturally and culturally significant.
Activities include:
Storm damage clean up along the Battle Road Trail. This will include raking, carrying limbs and possibly lopping invasives/brush off of stone walls.
Trail improvement along the Hartwell Tavern to Smith House Trail. This will include raking, lopping, hand saws, pole saws and small stump removal.
Trail Improvement along the Vernal Pool Trail. This will include raking, lopping, hand saws and pole saws.
After you finish volunteering, stick around for a PIZZA PARTY!
