POSITION TITLE: Special Events and Development Intern

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Special Events and Development intern will be primarily responsible for assisting the Development team with day-to-day projects as well as planning for our annual Soirée. Additionally, the intern will support Leadership Class activities. The intern will work closely with the Special Events and Community Outreach Coordinator.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Research potential sponsors and in-kind donors
  2. Prepare for and attend relevant meetings
  3. Assist with fundraising, planning and logistics for upcoming programs and events
  4. Communicate event details and fundraising information to participants through telephone calls and e-mail
  5. Cultivate relationships with current donors and event participants through fundraising and outreach calls
  6. Attend and support with select special events
  7. Support efforts to promote special events and programs
  8. Assist with phone calls and mailings to past and current donors, as well as potential sponsors and volunteers
  9. Draft and send communications as needed to the Leadership Class
  10. General office work including attending staff meetings and taking part in the organization’s decision making process
  11. Assist with donor cultivation
  12. Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Confident and professional communication with superb customer service skills
  • Highly organized; ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office and Internet Research
  • Highly motivated and eager to grow skillset
  • Interest in event planning or non-profit administration
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and meet deadlines

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Special Events and Development intern reports to the Senior Director of Mission Advancement and the Special Events and Community Outreach Coordinator.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

COMPENSATION: Position is unpaid; College Internship Credit Available

HOURS: Approximately 10+ hours per week; Flexible
