Short-term service learning program for college students at least 18 years of age. Volunteers will receive regular or as-needed assignments for socialization, companionship or caregiver break with hospice patients. Thorough orientation and monthly email continuing education on related topics. Program gives students the opportunity to learn about geriatrics and end-of-life care, related family issues, grief and bereavement while providing much-needed friendship and support for patients. Perfect for students entering nursing, medicine, psychology, social work and related fields or for students simply wanting to be of service to the elderly and ill.
Interview and Orientation in May, begin assignments in June.
