ORGANIZATION: Minneapolis Adult Education


M T W or Th, 6:00-7:30 pm, June 18-July 26.
Students in a high fluency ESL/ELL reading class will get special attention from volunteers. Through small groups or 1:1, volunteers will guide them to see commonalities between different readings, identify facts, understand figurative language, and interpret charts. Students are also learning to express their thoughts succinctly in writing, and then proofreading their work.

Help adults acquire the skills, and provide the support, to pursue education and employment goals.

Description

Minneapolis Adult Education provides free classes in ESL, reading, writing, math, basic computer skills, and transition to work and college. Classes are available in the morning, afternoon, and evening. We are part of Minneapolis Community Education, Minneapolis Public Schools.

Volunteers participate once an week, for an hour or more depending on the class. We ask for a commitment of 3 months. Service learning has a different minimum.
