ORGANIZATION: Pima Community College Adult Basic Education for College and Career

Overview: Teach a Citizenship preparation class to adult learners Fridays, 10:30am-12pm at the El Pueblo-Liberty Adult education center.

Responsibilities
:

  • Teach a weekly, 1.5 hour citizenship class
  • Engage learners in their own learning about US citizenship
  • Prepare and present lessons and materials
  • Track attendance, increase in knowledge via pre and post tests, and other needed data points
  • Participate on the citizenship team

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Willing to work with diverse students of mixed abilities, learner levels, backgrounds and cultures
  • High degree of initiative and creativity
  • Responsible
  • Patient and flexible

Description

Pima College Adult Basic Education for College and Career (ABECC) offers free, non-credit high school equivalency, English language and citizenship classes.

Classes are offered year-round in continuous sessions, at three learning centers, at Pima College campuses, and at community sites.

Volunteers are essential to fulfilling our mission and we welcome inquiries from community members who want to help the thousands of adult students we serve each year.
