Academic Year in America

Ever Thought About Bringing the World to Your Home?

One hundred seventy foreign-exchange students from around the world have their fingers crossed that they will soon get to experience life as a teenager in America. These great kids range in age from 15 to 17 and hail from 45 countries spanning the globe. As this region's coordinator for Academic Year in America, it is my job to find loving Host Families for these students. My current Host Families range in age from 27 to 85. Like me, they view getting involved in foreign-exchange as one of the most rewarding things they have ever done -- a multicultural adventure second to none! If you have ever thought about hosting, please give me (Garland Hancock) a call to find out just how easy it can be. My number is (254) 216-0460 and please feel free to call seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. If you will call or message me, I can also let you see all these kids' smiling faces and profiles! Or, you might be interested in becoming a coordinator like me. I can fill you in on that as well so please call even if only tangentially interested.

Description

AYA stands for Academic Year in America. As a non-profit organization, AYA supports cultural exchange to foster global citizenship and break down barriers to international understanding.

The AYA program enables people across the United States to host high school students from around the globe for intercultural education in their communities.

AYA exchange students experience the life of an American teenager while attending school and living with host families. AYA families gain a new "daughter," "son," or "sibling" along with greater appreciation of life in the U.S. and a broader world perspective.
