Family Lounge Volunteers operate and maintain a lounge area at URMC Mental Health and Wellness department to deliver the RMHCR mission of improving the health and well-being of children. The lounge offers refreshments, quiet respite and laundry facilities for families of children receiving care.

The Family Lounge will be open 7 days a week, 12pm-9pm Monday thru Friday and 3pm-9pm Saturday and Sunday. We are seeking volunteers willing to donate a 3 hour shift on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis.

Essential Tasks

• Welcoming and registering visitors to the lounge.
• Operating equipment to make coffee.
• Serving snacks and beverages following food safety guidelines.
• Keeping the lounge tidy and clean.
• Updating supply and food inventories.
• Respecting patient confidentially at all times.
• Following opening and closing procedures.
• Directing families on use of laundry facilities.

• Work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to problem solve.

• Training and orientation to RMHCR Standards.
• Training and orientation through Friends of Strong.
• Additional training, as required, from URMC Mental Health and Wellness Dept.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to handle physical demands, such as bending and lifting. Possibility of long periods of standing.
• Ability to lift up to 10-15 pounds.
• Adheres to RMHC mission, values and policies.
