We are looking for men, ages 18-over, to pledge Nu Sigma Theta and become part of Pledge Line Upsilon (The Brotherhood). At this time, we are seeking to develop our men's programming and are looking for men who are ready, willing and able to make a commitment to building the Brotherhood.

You get to decide how much time you can devote to your membership. Each month, we send out an email that lists the projects and activities that our entire membership is doing and most of these activities can be done from home. There are some projects that might require an in-person appearance, but as the Brotherhood takes shape, the members may develop their own activities.

To help the Brothers bond, there might be a monthly social activities (bowling, hoops, after-work drinks) and some brothers even want to plan events that they can bring their significant others/children to.

There are some activities that we once did that we want to resurrect and we hope that the brothers who pledge would help us do that. (1) We mentored a basketball team of young men and accompanied them to all of their games. The boys made the playoffs that year! (2) We spent a day at a boys' group home in Brooklyn and talked to the young men about their aspirations and dreams. We shared a meal with them and took them on a supervised field trip to a local arcade/pool room. (3) We were corresponding with a handful of brothers (ages 18-21) who were incarcerated, helping them to make more positive life choices.

Once the NY Chapter feels strong enough, it will find ways to include members of the Brotherhood that come from other states. We have men in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Illinois, North Carolina, Nigeria and New Jersey. Our planning meeting for academic year 2018-2019 will be held in August in New Jersey. That will be your official recognition ceremony as our newest brothers!

There is no hazing or crazy activities that we ask you to do in order to join us. All we ask is that you have an open mind, a willingness to serve and a desire to work with younger boys to help them grow into responsible, civic-minded men.
