Children, age 9 and younger, accompanied by parents, are invited for a special day of decorating an egg from the chicken coop, visiting the bunnies, riding a horse, seeing the farm animals wearing the best Easter bonnets, meeting the Easter bunny and finding a colored egg in the Easter Bunny's Magic Forest.

The Children's Farm is in need of volunteers to help manage crowds and help facilitate the interactions between the public and the animals. Each volunteer is assigned a specific station and is required to stay at that station for the duration for their "shift". Stations include: Ducks, ducklings, rabbits, pony/donkeys, sheep, cows, goats and pigs.

There are also opportunities for non-animal related volunteering such as: Parking Lot Easter Basket Passer-Outers Chicken Coop Attendants Cookie Bunnies Magic Forest Crew - crowd control, ticket punchers Egg Hiders Bunny Hutch Entrance Bunny Hutch Helpers Easter Bunnies Marshmallow roasting/camp fire attendants

Shifts will be split into an AM shift from 9:30am-12:30pm and a PM shift from 12:30pm-3:15pm. If you chose to stay all day, you will receive a lunch break where you can purchase food from our concession stand.

If you are interested in volunteering with the animals, you must complete the volunteer training prior to the day of the Easter Egg Round-Up. Volunteer training sessions are offered Saturdays and Sundays from 4pm-5pm. You must sign up for a training session prior to the date of training. Please call or email to obtain a spot in a training session.

About The Children's Farm at The Center

Location:

12700 Southwest Hwy., Palos Park, IL 60464, US

Mission Statement

The Center’s mission is to give people of all faiths, backgrounds, and ages the space to dream, grow, and become fully alive--physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Our goal is to connect people, animals and nature.

Description

The Children's Farm at The Center offers a rare and wonderful learning place where kids experience farm animals of all types, how they live, what they eat, how they feel and sound. Here, chickens lay eggs, sheep grow wool, cows give milk and horses eat hay harvested right from our fields. At the same time, children see crops grow and begin to understand the importance of farms and farmers to their own survival. Imagine - milk doesn’t have its origins in a cardboard or plastic carton! We offer a host of enriching farm programs, where children can handle the animals and experience the life of the farm.
