There are at least 26 imperiled plants and 118 imperiled animals that can be found on the refuge and surrounding dune habitats!
Our habitat improvement project is still under development, but we will be backpacking in to a remote section of the refuge to carry our this unique work.

Mission Statement
Habitat Works is a volunteer environmental stewardship organization, improving wildlife habitat in Southern California's forests, wildlife refuges, state parks and private preserves.
Description
Habitat Works hosts single-day habitat restoration projects, weekend campouts and backpacking trips in Southern California's precious National Forests, private preserves and State and National Parks. Volunteers learn about our own local ecology, native flora and fauna and the challenges they face, and have the hands-on opportunity to improve conditions in Southern California wildlife habitat. Spend time in nature while making a difference - caring for our natural environment. We look forward to meeting and working with you soon!
