Help Survivors of Sexual Assault
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for compassionate individuals to volunteer with our rape crisis advocacy program. When you volunteer as an advocate you can rest assure that you’re going to be making a difference in the life of a survivor of sexual assault. Our volunteer advocates accompany survivors to emergency rooms, police departments and provide one on one crisis intervention to victims and their significant others.
Each volunteer must complete our comprehensive 40+hour training which will provide you with all the skills and knowledge to do this rewarding work. We offer our training twice a year: November and June. The training sessions are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday’s. We also have a lot of professionals in the field who take our training strictly as professional development. There is a minimal charge for volunteers.
Please contact Kristina Ochoa at 630-790-6600 ext. 2446 or at Kristina.Ochoa@ywcachicago.org for more questions and to register for our next training beginning October 31, 2016.
