Description

Star House is partnering with UNCHAINED Fashion to produce a unique, professional fashion show that features thought-provoking artistry, fashion and poetry. UNCHAINED’s vital role is to raise awareness about human trafficking and the models are survivors and advocates. We will also share the designs created by Star House guests, giving them a platform to share their stories to raise awareness about the barriers they face, their resilience and the hope that Star House offers. There will also be a silent basket auction going on throughout the event.

When: Tuesday, May 29, 2018, 5:30PM - 8:00PM

Event Leader: Alfred@columbusgivesback.org

Where: Columbus Funny Bone, 145 Easton Town Center, Columbus, OH 43219.

#Socialtwist: We will have dinner/drinks somewhere to celebrate our volunteering!

About Star House: Star House is a drop-in center for homeless youth in Central Ohio. We help transitional youth get connected and reconnected with the community. Star House offers a safe place for homeless youth to seek services and begin to establish trust in order to access stabilizing resources such as housing, counseling, and employment opportunities.

About UNCHAINED: UNCHAINED is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to ending human trafficking through awareness and prevention, and restoration of victims. UNCHAINED seeks to empower audiences & youth with the knowledge of human trafficking, signs to look for and ways to report and combat the crime. The UNCHAINED Fashion Show is a multimedia-rich performance art live show that engages the audience better than a single dimension presentation about human trafficking. The experience includes facts and statistics about human trafficking, spoken word narration, music. The artistry of the hair, makeup & fashion portray a survivor of human trafficking and allow the models to walk as a voice for the voiceless.

About #CbusGivesBack: Columbus Gives Back coordinates group volunteer events with local non-profits, organizes philanthropic happy hours to raise support and awareness for our non-profit partners, and participates in other philanthropic events while emphasizing our social twist: to have fun with volunteers new and old during and after events in the hopes of creating a culture of community engagement amongst our target audience of young professionals.

Cancellation Policy: Due to the nature of our events, an accurate headcount is important. Please contact one of the event coordinators if you have RSVP'ed but are unable to attend this event.
