Longview School

We are a small team of passionate teachers who work at Longview, a non-profit K-12 school. We would love to re-brand ourselves and want to start with our logo. Even though we have many ideas, working with a professional Graphic Designer would help us to design the logo we can only dream of. Thank you so much for your interest in helping our school!

Mission Statement

Our approach supports students in becoming independent, responsible, thoughtful individuals as they develop into well-rounded, happy, young adults.

Description

Longview combines academics in the traditional curriculum with electives hardly ever seen on the pre-K to 12th-grade level. Some of our electives include computer programming, game programming, app design, debate, sociology, anthropology, Japanese, philosophy, movie making, improvisation, engineering, construction, business, etc. Democratic School Longview`s small, personalized environment supports both academic learning and social development. Beyond classes, students help run the school through participation in the school legislative body - school meeting - and the school court system - judicial committee. Our unique approach supports students in becoming independent, responsible, thoughtful individuals as they develop into well-rounded, happy, young adults. Differentiated Instruction At Longview School, we pride ourselves on being able to teach students with a wide range of abilities and talents. We use cutting edge educational techniques such as differentiated instruction and inquiry-based learning. Most schools which utilize differentiated instruction fail to differentiate when it comes to evaluation. This results in the stronger students getting higher grades no matter how hard they work or how much they learn. Conversely, it results in average or weaker students never being able to achieve high grades. In other words, grades are not an accurate representation of students’ learning and growth.
