Volunteers are needed in Avondale to meet with a patients, talk with the patient, read to the patient, and be with the patient while the caregiver runs errands for an hour or two. Visits would only last 1-2 hours, volunteers would not be expected to do any patient care except assist patient by getting a kleenex, or a pillow, or a blanket, or water, etc. no moving the patient or assisting the patient to the bathroom.
Requirements to start which are all provided by Homestead hospice:
1-2 hour orientation
drug screening
Tuberculosis skin test
