Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Help save lives by delivering Red Cross blood to area hospitals. You can be a hero, no cape needed! As a Transportation Specialist (Volunteer Driver), you will deliver or pick up blood products at locations throughout the Twin Cities metro area (or region if you like long drives).
The Red Cross will provide you with training and equipment, including use of a Red Cross marked vehicle. You get to go behind the scenes of local hospitals and Red Cross processing facilities. If you like being active, getting around the city and working with a crew of dedicated volunteers, this opportunity’s perfect for you!
Our biggest needs are for STAT runs (on call, on site just in time deliveries) and evening driving shifts.

- Must be at least 19
- Orientation or Training
- Volunteer shifts vary in length, with 2-4 hours being typical, and are available 7 days a week from 7 am to 7 pm. You can create a regular schedule or pick up shifts as your time permits.
- You must have a valid state driver’s license and three years clean driving record. You will load prepackaged biomed boxes onto a hand truck and navigate your cargo through hospital/lab facilities. Some boxes can weigh up to 45 lbs. (but most do not).
