Community’s Child provides nutritious groceries to 176 food insecure families every Friday by delivering bags to 7 elementary schools in Torrance and Lomita. When the school year ends, so do school lunches. Without school meals, many of these kids will go hungry in the summer months.
Our Summer Feed the Children Program works through the combined efforts of local churches, individuals, and philanthropy groups. Families will arrive to the event and head straight to our nutrition education class and literacy corner to receive a brand new book for each member of the family. The children will learn to grow their own garden and take home a seedling to grow at home. In addition to the education and literacy, each family will participate in learning group activities that are fun and free to do together! At the end of the event each person goes home with 4 weeks’ worth of groceries to help them get through the summer months while they are away from their schools free lunch programs.
We need your help to continue the success with our Summer Feed the Children Program and we need you to help us cover each station the family goes through. We need all levels of help, either use a specific talent such as photography, dance, or childcare or someone who has a willing heart and wants to serve in any way they can. Please consider partnering with us at our event!
