Collect items from friends, family, and local business to sell them at your own garage sale or other venue of your choice (school, church, work etc). Cans of pop and baked goods will sell, too.
Choose any days and any time you want- you're in-charge!

Its easy:
1. If your community is having a city-wide rummage sale weekend- that's a good date to choose, but any date you choose is fine.
2. Have donation jar for those who don't want to buy anything but want to help.
3. Put out signage of your event, set up your tables, and hold your garage/rummage sale
4. Take any unsold items to your local Goodwill, or Salvation Army, or other charity
5. Send the proceeds to Rabbit & Small Animal Rescue (instructions will be provided)
6. Make sure you have written down each date and how much time you spent setting up, putting out signage, manning the sale, and breaking down the tables, and cleaning up - that all counts!.
7. Send the time sheet and you will get a letter showing the hours of community service you performed for this 501C-3 non-profit.

Additional information will be provided - contact the rescue if you, your family, even children, want to help.

Id you have your own idea - like hosting a charity Bar-B-Q and selling hotdogs and pop etc at little league games etc - we will work with you. Anything that helps obtain funds to pay for the much need veterinary care and medicines is welcome!

Why pick this charity? The rescue lost its major source of funding and is now at risk.
Special pets like Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, etc in SE Michigan could have nowhere else to be taken when they are abandoned, sick, or injured. The rescue is no-kill, so even pets that are defined as "unadoptable" are not killed simply because they do not get adoption applications. That includes many pets with chronic medical conditions that are treatable, and senior pets needing frequent veterinary visits and higher cost medications. These pets may never be adopted, but you help in getting donations to pay for their medicines will allow them to remain in a happy foster home, getting care and love, instead of being euthanized.

Note: because the community service time for this event is self-reported, please check with your case manager first to see if it would fulfill court mandated community service requirements.

Location:

Carsons Store at Laurel Park Place, 17625 Newburgh Rd, Livonia, MI 48152, US

Mission Statement

Transforming the neglected, abused, unwanted, and abandoned into the loved, sheltered, happy, and content.

Description

Rabbit & Small Animal Rescue is a small no-kill, all volunteer run rescue group that provides shelter and care for homeless, abandoned, abused and neglected "pocket" type pets. Each animal is treated with respect and is provided a spacious habitat while they are in temporary volunteer foster homes through Rabbit & Small Animal Rescue. We strive to educate the public about these pets and the plight of all homeless animals. We support sterilization of rabbits and small pets and advocate the responsible handling, feeding, and housing of these special pets. We screen all adopters to ensure safe, loving, and permanent homes for our rescued animals.
