Healthy Cooking and Nutrition Classes
ORGANIZATION: Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma
Please visit the new page to apply.
"Cooking Matters" is a program of the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma that is designed to teach low income families how to cook healthy on a budget. It is a six week long course with classes running once a week for two hours. The first hour of the class is a nutrition lesson, led by one volunteer. The second hour of the class is a hands-on cooking demo also led by a volunteer. Volunteers in both positions will receive a Cooking Matters instructors guide that contains nutrition lessons and recipes. Participants in the class will receive participant guides so they can follow along with all of the lessons and have the recipes to take home. Participants will also receive a bag of groceries at the end of each class that contains the exact ingredients from the lesson.
Cooking Matters serves those who receive benefits from SNAP, WIC, Free or Reduced School Meals, Medicaid, and other assistance programs. If you have any questions or would like more information email Kassidy Wickersham at kwickersham@okfoodbank.org or call (918) 936-4566.
